Cracked Bearing = Engine Rebuild

In April while I was riding the cb500 I felt a shudder in the engine's output.  Soon after that I felt the kick start hitting the back of my leg.  The bike became impossible to shift so I pulled over.  Let the bike cool.  Got it in 1st and limped it home.  I didn't start the engine again after that knowing that something for sure had happened in the transmission.  I thought about it and after a couple months decided it was the kick side output shaft needle bearing.  So the engine had to be rebuilt.  I took it apart in October and found out that I was right.  It was that bearing.  The outer race had cracked and pieces of the roller cage were in the sump.  I striped the cases.  Today I took the cases, head, cylinder block, and the oil pan to Gord Bush Performance.  GPP will bead blast the cases, measure the pistons and cylinders, hone or boar the cylinders and help me decide whether or not to get new pistons.  GPP will also polish and flow the heads, install new guides, and maybe do a valve job.  This picture is of the cases and cylinder block on their way to the shop.

The crank, crank journals, and crank bearings are all in good shape.  I will replace the primary chain and the cam chain.

The container, box and containers in the background are full of all the engine's ancillary parts.
